Health & Lifestyle | Kristina Cassar Dowling

The environment is probably at the top of everyone’s concern these days, what with fires ‘breaking out’ in the lungs of the Earth, plastic filling the ocean faster than ever before and the increase of traffic, congestion and combustible fumes filling our stratosphere to a rather disgusting percent - it’s no wonder most of the population is turning to eco-happy solutions.

There are so many ways in which we can safeguard the environment and help to build a better future together. From community clean ups to full on meat reduction tactics, there are so many ways to make your mark and go that little bit greener.

Here are some starter tips to get you going

On the go: let’s start off easy huh? Keep things nice and light for the beginners out there.

Get yourself a reusable coffee cup

Buy a reusable straw and straw cleaner

    Pack you own cutlery

    Refuse single use plastic

    Carry a tote bag

    Choose your products wisely

Pick up any litter you see on the floor

Keep hydrated with a glass or reusable plastic bottle

Walk, use public transport or car pool

In the house: difficulty level… medium, not too much of a commitment, not too hard to master and pretty much a simple switch (that may even result in some saved pennies).

Get yourself an eco laundry solution

    Use chemical free cleaning products

Make sure the goods in your house are not tested on animals

Reduce your water and electricity consumption

Switch your bulbs to energy saving ones

If you’re buying a new appliance, opt for A++

For the pros: this is for the eco-conscious few out there who know a thing or two about sustainability, consider it a vital way of life and need some extra tips to go full throttle.

    Go paper free

    Try our Project 333

Give vegetarianism or veganism a try

    Waste nothing, reuse everything

Get a water filter for cleaner, tastier drinking water

Buy organic – pesticides kill the earth!

Don’t let plastic finds its way into your home

    Learn more about Photovoltaic panels

Consider getting yourself an electric car

Grow your own veggies, herbs and fruit

Ahh, sounds like hard work right? Well there’s the baby steps and then there’s the pro choices you can go for. It’s never too small an effort to help the planet out; every little gesture is one that can go a long way.
